On 10th February 2018, the club organised a formal chakai (茶会), named The Japanese Tea Gathering on the Roof, aided by the club’s alumni. We welcomed various guests including students from NUS as well as guests from the public. Guests from other Japanese Tea Schools attended the Tea Gathering as well. There were three sessions in total and the guests learned various things about Japanese Tea Ceremony as well as the Tea School of Enshu.
On 3rd February, the club participated in the annual NUS Japanese Cultural Festival. There were numerous booths displaying the different aspects of Japanese culture. Our club had also set up a booth and served Japanese Matcha and sweets during the Festival.
From the 25th to the 27th January we had our senseis visit us to celebrate the new year by having a hatsugama (初釜, first pot of tea) ceremony. At the same time, we welcome a new tea ceremony equipment to the club, the ro (炉), which is used in ceremonies during winter time.
